Twitch streamer "HasanAbi" Piker was at the ongoing protests on college and university campuses when a fan approached him and claimed that re-uploaded his videos allowed the student to partially pay for tuition. Piker was elated at the news and congratulated the supporter for being able to pay for college with his content.
Copyright abuse in content creation is a big point of content for creators, however, HasanAbi has always been a staunch supporter of people uploading parts of his streams to their YouTube channels and has publicly announced that he will not DMCA anybody who does that.
During the protest, the fan approached the streamer and thanked him for not using copyright strikes on those reuploading his streams, and made a claim that revenue from the videos of the Twitch star had paid for their tuition:
HasanAbi was elated beyond measure, and could not believe that a fan could pay their tuition by just sharing his content:
The person clarified that it did not cover all of the tuition, but a part of it.
HasanAbi is a political commentator on Twitch who has made a name for himself by talking and reacting to socio-political issues of the day. The streamer has over 2.5 million followers on the Amazon-owned platform and has appeared on Piers Morgan's show to debate the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Piker was at UCLA recently where he joined the ongoing protests and even brought them free pizza. During the IRL stream from the university campus, a fan approached him and claimed having paid part of their tuition fee by re-uploading his content on YouTube and other platforms.
