PSL veteran Elias ‘Domingues’ Pelembe provided an assist for Mozambique's Mambas as they stunned hosts Botswana 3-2 in a Fifa World Cup qualifier on Thursday.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns player teed up Ratifo for him to score a second goal for Mozambique at Chilume Stadium in Francistown in the 52nd minute.
Mozambique had earlier taken the lead through Clesio Bauque’s effort coming 14 minutes into the Group G game.
The hosts came back strongly in the second half when they deservedly reduced the deficit through substitute Molaodi Tlhalefang’s strike.
However, the visitors increased their lead when Jonathan Muiomo restored the Mambas’ two goal cushion with 18 minutes remaining on the clock.
The Zebras replied late though not enough with Sekanyeng scoring in the 85th minute.
Pelembe will be expected in action again when Mozambique welcome Algeria on November 19 whereas Botswana face Guinea in another match for the group.
The ex-SuperSport United winger ended almost two decades of his career in South Africa at the start of the season when he parted ways with Royal AM and returned home to join UD Songo.
Apart from Pelembe, there were also faces that are familiar in the PSL such as Kaizer Chiefs defender Edmilson Dove in Mozambique squad whereas the Zebras paraded Amakhosi new signing Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and ex-Sundowns winger Mogakolodi Ngele.
The former Royal AM veteran, who turns 40 later this month, told Mozambique’s LanceMZ newspaper that he was not thinking of retiring any time soon.
