Al-Ettifaq have reportedly approached Everton regarding a move to sign Abdoulaye Doucoure.
The Saudi Pro league side made headlines this summer after unveiling Steven Gerrard as their manager and signing the likes of Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Demarai Gray.
However despite a bright start to the campaign, Gerrard's side have won just one of their last twelve league games.
The club's recent struggles on the pitch have been compounded by Jordan Henderson's surprise departure, with the club agreeing a mutual termination just six months into his three-year deal.
With the England international's £350,000-a-week wages off his side's books, Gerrard has again turned to the Premier League in search of reinforcements.
According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Al-Ettifaq have contacted both Everton and the player regarding their interest with a view to secure a deal.
Despite the interest, Everton are said to be determined to keep the Mali international who has been an integral component of Sean Dyche's relegation-battling side thus far this season.
Doucoure arrived at Goodison Park in 2020 in a £22m deal after spending five years with Watford.
The 31-year-old who represented France at youth level looked to be on his way out of the club after falling out of favour with then-boss Frank Lampard before reasserting his place in the club's starting XI under Dyche.
Speaking about Doucoure last month Dyche called the former Rennes star a 'shining light' in his team.
‘He wasn’t in the situation he wanted to be in when we got here,’ said Dyche.
‘I’d always liked him as a player when he was at Watford. I gave him belief, we thrust him back into the side and he has never really looked back. He’s been a shining light.’
