Alan Shearer names Premier League team of the season so far as Tottenham and Arsenal dominate
Tottenham Hotspur are the joint-most represented club in Alan Shearer's Premier League team of the season at the halfway stage.
Alongside Liverpool, Spurs have a trio of players who feature in Shearer's XI. Lining up in 4-2-4, the Match of the Day pundit told the Premier League his first choice goalkeeper is Guglielmo Vicario.
«Spurs' brave style under Ange Postecoglou means he faces lots of shots and also has to play out from the back under pressure,» Shearer explained. «He has excelled in both areas.»
Shearer's good impression with the Tottenham back line continued as young full-back Destiny Udogie was picked. In his attacking line-up, the Premier League's top goalscorer rounded off the team by adding Son Heung-min on the left flank.

«He’s a special talent,» Shearer explained about the Spurs' 12-goal captain. «When he gets the ball in front of goal, I have no doubt he will score.»
Arsenal were also represented in the line-up with Mikel Arteta's men featuring on two occasions. First up was William Saliba who has been a rock for the Gunners this campaign.
Meanwhile, Shearer hailed the impact of Declan Rice following his summer switch from West Ham United, adding: «Has transitioned seamlessly into the Arsenal midfield. His tackling and reading of the game is superb.»
The Iron were also included in the team thanks to Jarrod Bowen's exploits. David Moyes' 27-year-old has 14 goals to his name this campaign.
