Ange Postecoglou could be forced into a huge Cristian Romero Tottenham decision in the coming months. The defender has been a pivotal figure in Postecoglou's team with the Spurs boss on numerous occasions praising the maturity he has shown in a new leadership role.
Alongside Micky van de Ven and ahead of Guglielmo Vicario, while being flanked by Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro, Romero is the longest-serving member of the back favoured back five despite only joining the club in 2022. Niggling injuries have hampered Romero since his arrival 18 months ago with those somewhat continuing this season, however his disciplinary record has drastically improved.
Despite picking up a yellow card against West Ham earlier this week, it was Romero's first in nearly four months and he has just five to his name for the season. Given his own comments, it if fair to say Romero fell out of love playing for Spurs under Antonio Conte and would often miss games before then heading on international duty and being injury-free to feature for Argentina.
Life in north London is far better for Romero now under Postecoglou, but his love for playing for his country is still prominent and that was made clear by a recent admission. “I would like to be in the Olympic Games," Romero told TyC Sports (via talkSPORT).
