Ange Postecoglou makes Brennan Johnson prediction as Tottenham star prepares to face former club

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has hinted at a bright future for «super player» Brennan Johnson, stating there's «a lot more to come».

The Wales international has been in fine form for Spurs this season, scoring in Tuesday's 1-1 draw against West Ham. The strike was Johnsons's fifth goal involvement in as many Premier League games and also his fifth goal this season.

Johnson signed for Spurs last summer from Nottingham Forest in a £47.5 million deal. After initially struggling to find his feet, he is now beginning to show his best form ahead of Sunday's meeting against his former club.

Postecoglou has praised Johnson's handling of his high-profile transfer, particularly following Harry Kane's exit for Bayern Munich last summer. The Spurs manager also expressed his careful approach towards Johnson's development, recognising his potential and refusing to limit his growth.

«We had a minimum of 30 goals walk out the building,» said Postecoglou referring to Kane's departure last summer «People are going to be looking at how we're going to replace that and it can weigh heavily on a young guy's shoulders.

»Not that we can expect Brennan to replace Harry, but we needed goals and assists and I like the way he's handled it. We've tried to tread carefully with him because I can see the potential in him. I can see how much he can improve and the attributes he has, I've got no doubt will fit really well with this team, but I'm not going to put a ceiling on it because that would be unfair on him."
