Ange Postecoglou hits back at Eric Dier 'no tactics' claim and defends Harry Kane's Bayern move

Ange Postecoglou has answered questions raised by Eric Dier claiming that Tottenham do not work on tactics during training sessions and has defended Harry Kane's season at Bayern Munich.

Both Kane and Dier are in action this week as Bayern host Arsenal in their Champions League quarter-final second leg and in recent weeks the latter has undertaken a series of interviews with English media. Dier has been overwhelmingly positive about Postecoglou since leaving the club and in one interview said that the Australian had the style that he would most closely mimic if he became a coach.

Then on the Overlap podcast with Gary Neville, when asked if Postecoglou was the most tactically aware manager he had played for, Dier said: «No, interestingly he really doesn't do any tactical work, what he does is every single training drill from Monday to Friday is drawn up to represent the way that he wants to play. [Antonio] Conte, I could do it blind, but that was a lot of tactical work Monday to Friday, a lot of ten versus zero, walkthroughs – you were so well drilled, it would be engrained in you.»

football.london has previously reported that Conte would often call up Tottenham's U21s players to use simply as static opponents for his first team players to be drilled in playing around a certain system.

Dier's comments about a lack of tactics in his training sessions were put to Postecoglou.
