Ange Postecoglou has reiterated that he is not a fan of VAR despite his Tottenham Hotspur coming out on top against Liverpool because of a number of controversial officiating decisions.
A Joel Matip own goal in the 96th minute saw the Reds fall to a last-minute 2-1 defeat in the capital, having seen Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota sent off in each half. Meanwhile, Luis Diaz also had a goal incorrectly ruled out for offside when the scores were still 0-0, with the PGMOL confirming that it was a ‘significant human error’ after VAR did not overturn the on-field decision.
Speaking after the match, Postecoglou pointed out that human error has always been part of football and shared his belief that technology was never going to be a flawless system despite its implementation to prevent wrong officiating decisions.
