Timo Werner is now on the training pitch at Hotspur Way with his new Tottenham teammates after completing his loan move from RB Leipzig on Tuesday evening. The German international joins Spurs on a deal until the end of the season and the agreement with the Bundesliga club contains an option for Tottenham to purchase the 27-year-old for £15.5million.
At a time when Ange Postecoglou needs a further option in attack with Son Heung-min representing South Korea at the Asian Cup, the temporary signing of Werner could prove to be a very shrewd one indeed. It very much is a low-risk signing with the potential for high rewards.
After his signing was announced on Tuesday evening, Werner was straight down to work with the rest of the Spurs squad at Hotspur Way the following day. Here we take a look at what we spotted in the session at the club's Enfield training base.
Starting off in the gym before heading outside, the ex-Chelsea man was greeted by all his new teammates as they entered for training. The video footage published on Tottenham's social media accounts showed goalkeepers Guglielmo Vicario and Alfie Whiteman welcoming the new player, with Pedro Porro also doing the same.
At a time when Werner was laid on his back working with a couple of Tottenham's backroom staff, Rodrigo Bentancur, who captained the team last Friday against Burnley, came over to embrace the German and share a few words with him. In the video produced by the club giving in an insight into Werner's first day, the player could also be seen speaking with Richarlison in the gym.
