Ange Postecoglou has stated «there has to be» more to come from his Tottenham side. The Spurs head coach was speaking after claiming the Manager of the Year award at the London Football Awards on Thursday evening.
Appointed as Tottenham boss in the summer after making a real impression in his two years with Celtic, the Australian immediately stamped his mark on the football club after his arrival in N17 and has his team firmly in the mix for a Champions League spot. Both Postecoglou and Spurs have received plenty of plaudits since August after playing an attacking brand of football that has wowed not only Tottenham fans but Premier League supporters in general.
Given his impact at the football club and with plenty more to come from the Spurs team, Postecoglou could well be the man who brings the glory days back to north London. Speaking to BBC Radio London Sport after collecting his gong, the 58-year-old says he's «not really made the impact» at Tottenham he wants to yet nor have they «achieved anywhere near what we want to».
«A little bit bizarre, obviously I'm honoured,» he said on winning the Manager of the Year award a matter of months into his Tottenham tenure. «I've not really made the impact I want to yet but obviously what we've done so far as a football club people have noticed which is great. I think our supporters have enjoyed elements of our football so far and there's more to come I guess.»
When asked if there's more to come from his Spurs side, he replied: «There has to be. I've only really been here seven or eight months and we still haven't achieved anywhere near what we want to. So there is still a lot of work to do but, as I say, it's made some sort of impact which is pleasing.»
