Antonio Conte hints at one reason for Tottenham sacking amid major Jose Mourinho warning

Antonio Conte has fired a huge warning to fellow former Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho while also hinting at one of the reasons it did not work out for him in north London. The Italian manager took over from Nuno Espirito Santo in the early stages of the 2021/22 season before guiding Spurs to a Champions League return at the expense of bitter rivals Arsenal.

The following season was a hugely challenging one personally for Conte with two of his close friends passing away and the 54-year-old also undergoing emergency surgery. Tottenham fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone and Italy legend Gianluca Vialli sadly died with Conte then undergoing an emergency operation to remove his gallbladder.

The 2022/23 season was therefore full of personal challenges for Conte and his infamous rant following the draw against Southampton showed a man at the end of his tether. Just over one week after that press conference, it was announced that Conte and Tottenham had reached a mutual agreement to part ways.

Conte is still yet to return to management, however he recently revealed he turned down a lucrative proposal to coach in Saudi Arabia. And now the former Chelsea boss has admitted he would be interested in coaching two clubs in Italy, one of which is managed by Mourinho.

“Those are two clubs that I’d like to try for the passion fans have,” Conte said of Roma and Napoli in an interview with Rai TV program Belve, translated by Football Italia via the Mirror. “I hope one day I’ll have a chance to live this experience." Mourinho has just entered his third season in charge of the Italian side after guiding them to the Europa Conference League in 2022 before losing the following year to Sevilla in the final of the Europa League.
