Son Heung-min breaks silence on Tottenham injury scare ahead of Fulham clash

Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min has broken his silence on potential injury fears ahead of Monday evening's Premier League clash against Fulham. Son and his teammates have enjoyed a hugely successful start to the 2023/24 campaign, with the prolific forward netting six goals in his first eight league outings this term.

That kind of form has helped Spurs climb to the summit of the table, sitting above local rivals Arsenal on goals scored, with the two north London sides both accruing 20 points and a plus-ten goal difference. However, the South Korean international appeared to suffer an injury scare during his nation's win over Vietnam.

At half time, with Jurgen Klinsmann's side 2-0 up, Son was seen limping to the tunnel, sparking significant concerns that he may have picked up a muscular issue. But the 31-year-old did return after the break and scored in what ended up being a 6-0 victory.

After the full-time whistle, Son revealed it was his decision to play the game in the end. He told Korean journalist Sungmo Lee: «I discussed with the gaffer (Klinsmann) and said I will play the game as I cannot forgive myself if I don't play for Korea national team in front of Korean fans when I already return to Korea.»
