Arsenal transfer news: Nuno Tavares' move to Nottingham Forest is reportedly back on, with Steve Copper's side said to be keen on a loan move with an option to buy
Nottingham Forest have revived their interest in Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares, according to recent reports.
Steve Cooper's side had been keen on a deal to sign the Portugal Under-21s international earlier in the summer transfer window but a move eventually broke down. Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg have also made approaches for Tavares football.london understands, although the player would prefer to stay in England to play in the Premier League.
Aston Villa have also been mooted as a potential destination for the former Benfica man but the Daily Mail have now reported that a deal could be back on. Their report claims that Forest are hopeful of recruiting the versatile fullback on loan with an option to buy next summer.
It is a boost for Mikel Arteta considering Tavares, who is valued at €30million (£25.7million) by CIES Football Observatory, is yet to feature in any of the Gunners' Premier League matchday squads this season, clearly not in the Spaniard's plans. The 23-year-old enjoyed a relatively successful loan spell in Ligue 1 with Marseille last season.
When asked about his future last term, he told The Metro : "I’m good here [at Marseille]. I feel good here and it shows in the matches.
"On top of that, Marseille feels very similar to Lisbon: the streets, the city, the climate, the sun. I’m not thinking about the future.
"I live in the present moment, day by day. I have no thoughts [about my future], I’m just keeping my feet on the ground."
