Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka continues to be nagged by an Achilles injury that dogged him last season, according to recent reports. The Hale End academy graduate has played 84 consecutive Premier League games in a row for the north London outfit, a club record.
But that is clearly taking a toll on his body, with England manager Gareth Southgate deciding to give him a rest during Tuesday night's friendly against Scotland. The Gunners have plenty of depth out wide besides the 22-year-old, in the form of Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Reiss Nelson.
But the latter three are all right-footed and prefer the left wing, leaving Saka as the only left-footed right-winger in the first-team. So, football.london has taken a look at three different options Mikel Arteta has to help ease Saka's burden ahead of the January transfer window.
Sign another winger
The option that will excite supporters the most is obviously to bring in a new left-footed right-winger during the January transfer window, although that is of course easier said than done. Recruiting a player halfway through the season is always a difficult task, especially on the right flank considering there seems to be a shortage of options on the market currently.
Considering the way Arteta likes to use his widemen, it makes sense for any right-winger that Arsenal sign be left-footed. One possibility could be Sporting CP starlet Marcus Edwards.
