Barcelona are reportedly planning to sell ex-Premier League stars Andreas Christensen and Raphinha to avoid breaking Financial Fair Play rules. The La Liga champions are in a financial crunch and need to cut their wage bill, according to the Mirror.
Despite having young talents like Gavi and Pedri who could fetch high fees, Barcelona are unlikely to let them go. Instead, they're looking at selling other senior players.
While some players like Gavi, Pedri, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Ilkay Gundogan are considered untouchable, offers for most of the squad will be considered, it's reported. The club believes that Raphinha, Christensen and Jules Kounde will be the easiest to sell.
Former Chelsea star Christensen joined the Spanish giants for free in 2022 and any sale would be seen as good business. Raphinha, meanwhile, joined for £50million from Leeds United in July 2022 but has yet to reach the heights required. Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have all previously shown interest in the Brazilian.
Barca's sporting director Deco has revealed the club will not be spending big money on players this summer. «We will not do big signings next summer. We need a new manager who understands the situation of the club, who understands that we have a lot of youngsters that need to be improved and worked on,» Deco told Catalan TV.
«Who understands we are growing as a team and that we won't make top signings next summer. We don't want to (have to sell someone). The ideal plan is to improve the current squad without sales. But if you have to sell someone, it will have to balance our current squad.»
