Arsenal confirmed team news vs Sheffield United as Jorginho keeps place and Partey returns

Thomas Partey makes his return to the Arsenal squad for the Premier League clash with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. The Ghanaian has played just 15 minutes since October due to a spate of muscle injuries.

However, after making his return to training, manager Mikel Arteta revealed that Partey was going to be back in contention for this match. «He’s fit enough,» the Spaniard said. «How long he will last that’s very different. We didn’t want to take any risks. We need him fit and now we want to make sure we load him in the right way.»

And now Partey is back among the subs for the first time since Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Chelsea in October. He is one of a few players hoping to make their return to playing action tonight.

Garbiel Jesus and Fabio Vieira are both among the subs. Jesus is returning from a knee injury and could play for the first time since January, while Vieira has not played since November due to a groin injury.

There is no return for Takehiro Tomiyasu or Oleksandr Zinchenko however. The pair are continuing to be out with calf problems they have been managing since last year.

This means the Arsenal team remains unchanged from last weekend's 4-1 win over Newcastle at Emirates Stadium. Jorginho keeps his place in the starting XI along with Declan Rice in midfield.

Kai Havertz meanwhile continues up front with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli either side of him. In defence Jakub Kiwior continues at left back.
