Sheffield United supporters were spotted leaving their seats early as Arsenal took a commanding 4-0 lead on Monday night. The Gunners ended up running riot at Bramall Lane in 6-0 mailing of the Premier League's whipping boys.
Arsenal, who had been in top form with six consecutive Premier League victories, quickly took control of the game against the Blades, who are putting up a poor fight in battling relegation. As expected, Mikel Arteta's team dominated from the start.
Martin Odegaard scored the first goal five minutes into the game, followed by an own goal forced by Bukayo Saka from Jayden Bogle and a deflected shot from Gabriel Martinelli. By the time Kai Havertz netted the fourth goal in the 25th minute, the hosts had already made a substitution.
Experienced midfielder Oliver Norwood was subbed off in the 17th minute, replaced by Ben Osborn. However, this change did not help the bottom-placed side, as Arsenal continued to dominate the game, leading some fans to leave their seats, either for refreshments or to head home early.
The heavy defeat led to a mix of sympathy and mockery from rival fans on Twitter. One fan tweeted: «Feel for the Sheff Utd fans, that's shocking from the team,» Another added: «Sheff Utd fans just about catch the end of Corrie,» reports the Mirror.
One fan expressed their disappointment, saying: «The right thing to do is to refund all Sheff Utd fans season tickets this season. Quite clear this group of players have given up and have no intention of competing,» Another added: «Sheff Utd fans going home after 24 mins. State of that. Not real fans.»
