Arsenal could benefit from a potential summer transfer battle with interest reportedly increasing around on-loan striker Mika Biereth.
The 21-year-old joined Austrian side Sturm Graz on a deal until the end of the season back in the January transfer window. He has caught the eye with his impressive goalscoring record since completing that move.
In his 11 appearances in all competitions for the club, he’s scored eight times. It’s perhaps no surprise, then, that the Austrian club are reportedly keen to make the deal permanent in the summer, but they could face competition.
According to the Standard, Biereth’s goalscoring exploits have captured the attention of other clubs around Europe. Sturm Graz beat off competition from Sheffield Wednesday to sign the Arsenal man on loan in January.
Extra interest in the striker can only be good news for Arsenal. Biereth will have just one year remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium when the summer comes around, but the more tainterested, the more the club can drive the price up should they decide to cash in.
The Denmark U21 international spent the first half of the season on loan with Scottish side Motherwell, where he scored six times in 15 appearances. He swapped Scotland for Austria in January due to the chance of playing in the Europa Conference League, a competition in which he scored three times in four games.
