Arsenal handed huge Champions League advantage against Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich supporters will be banned from attending the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie against Arsenal at the Emirates next month.

The Gunners will welcome the Bundesliga champions to North London on April 9/10 after being paired against Thomas Tuchel's side in Friday's Champions League draw in Nyon, Switzerland.

Tuchel's side, though, will travel to the Emirates without the support of their typically, noisy following after UEFA banned Bayern supporters from attending the away leg of the quarter-finals due to fans throwing fireworks onto the pitch during last month's round-of-16 tie at Lazio.

UEFA had initially slapped Bayern with a suspended one-match ban for away supporters back in October after a similar incident occurred at Copenhagen in October. The German club were fined €40,000 as a result.

Earlier this month, however, Bayern confirmed that they would not be appealing the punishment. «We have to accept this punishment,» said CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. «Not only were pyrotechnics set off, but also fired deliberately onto the field, directly endangering bystanders.

Football.london understands that those seats will be made available for Arsenal supporters to purchase as the Gunners look to reach the semi-finals of the competition for the first time since 2009.
