One window closes and immediately thoughts turn to the next summer transfers, it is the way of the game, but especially in the world of Arsenal it seems. However, the deal to sign David Raya on loan from Brentford instead of a permanent move was done so with Financial Fair Play restrictions in mind. Therefore, the club may still need to be shrewd with some of their intended business in the short term despite seeing a £105million outlay on Declan Rice this summer.
With the aforementioned move for Rice completed, there’s certainly a focus on the club perhaps finding their marquee forward for the 2024/25 season. The name on many fans' lips at the beginning of the current campaign is Evan Ferguson after his hat-trick against Newcastle.
The 18-year-old currently plies his trade at Brighton – arguably the worst possible club that any potential buyer could look to negotiate with. It’s highly likely that any potential deal for Ferguson would demand a staggeringly high fee if his early season form persists throughout the campaign. He has a contract through to 2028 and Brighton have absolutely no need or pressure to sell the player as they continue their push to establish themselves at the top end of the table.
