Arsenal 'identify' first summer signing but face transfer pushback from Fenerbahce
Arsenal have reportedly earmarked Fenerbahce star Ferdi Kadioglu as a potential summer signing but may face friction over a deal. The 24-year-old, who can play on both flanks, has featured in all but one of his team’s 30 league games this season with the Turkish giants in a close title battle with rivals Galatasaray.
He has provided three goals and four assists in 41 games across all competitions this term. Mikel Arteta could choose to look at strengthening left-back due to the frequent injury setbacks to Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu.
The Gunners are not the only club linked with interest, with TRTSpor suggesting that Napoli are also in the hunt. Kadioglu has caught attention in the Super Lig by attaining an 85% pass accuracy and averagely dispossessing the opposition seven times a game.
His form is making Fenerbahce very reluctant to sell, the report adds. It says it would take an ‘astronomical’ fee to make them consider his exit, with more than two years left on his contract.
Kadioglu has 15 caps for Turkey and scored his maiden goal for his country in November against Germany. Arteta is expected to search for an attacker and a midfielder in the summer amid the possibility that a few academy talents will leave the club.
Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson have all been linked with exits, and any fee gained would count as 100% profit under Financial Fair Play rules. Aaron Ramsdale, Mohamed Elneny and Cedric Soares are also tipped to leave the Emirates Stadium before next season.
