Arsenal are reportedly preparing to make a move to sign Sporting CP striker Gyokeres this summer. The Gunners have been heavily linked with the possibility of signing a striker ever since last summer.
Arsenal currently have Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah and Kai Havertz as the main centre-forward options in the first-team squad. Rumours intensified during the January transfer window that Arsenal could be in the market for a new striker, with Jesus missing numerous matches this season through injury.
However, Mikel Arteta decided not to make any new signings during the window, which included not adding a striker to his squad. With the summer transfer window looming, reports are beginning to emerge around potential business Arsenal may conduct at the end of the season.
The latest rumours centre around Gyokeres at Sporting. According to reports in Italy, AC Milan are interested in signing Gyokeres but will face competition from Arsenal.
MilanLive have claimed that the Gunners have 'decisively landed' on trying to sign Gyokeres this summer, which could see the North London club meet the striker's release clause.
Gyokeres joined Sporting from Coventry City last summer in a deal reportedly worth £20 million. He has since scored 33 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions and has helped the Portuguese club climb to the top of the Primeira Liga table.
