After a fantastic season in Portugal, Arsenal have been linked with Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres ahead of next season.
A new striker seems to be a priority signing for Arsenal ahead of next season, with a clinical No.9 high up on Mikel Arteta's wish list. One name that has been linked with a move for some time is Sporting's Gyokeres, with 36 goals and 14 assists across all competitions this season making him one of the most sought-after strikers currently in world football.
The 25-year-old is no stranger to English football, with Gyokeres coming through the Brighton academy before enjoying spells with Swansea City and most recently Coventry in the Championship. The Swedish international has a release clause of £84million, though it's reported that the Portuguese club may be willing to part ways with their talisman for £43million instead.

To set up this simulation, we used Football Manager 2024 to move Gyokeres to Arsenal in the summer transfer window before simulating the 2024/25 season. This is how the Sporting striker performed for the Gunners.
In his first season, Gyokeres was rotated in and out of the Arsenal XI often, starting 25 games and making a further 21 appearances off the bench in all competitions. The Swedish striker was very impressive, and he ended the campaign as the Gunners' top goalscorer.
The 25-year-old grabbed 18 goals under Arteta, two more than Bukayo Saka (16) and three more than Gabriel Jesus (15). Compared to the other attackers at the club, he averaged the second-lowest rating per game (7), with only Kai Havertz (6.93) averaging lower.
