Arsenal risk losing five players for nothing in 2024 as £27m transfer agreement struck
Arsenal have recently mastered the art of contract negotiations, but there are up to five first-team players who could leave for nothing in 2024 when their deals come to an end.
In the past 12 months, the Gunners under the guidance of manager Mikel Arteta, sporting director Edu Gaspar and director of football operations Richard Garlick, whose main role entails negotiating contracts with both existing and new players, have secured the futures of several key players.
In fact, captain Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli, Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Reiss Nelson have all signed extensions in the past year. Furthermore, football.london understands Arsenal are looking to reward Ben White with a new deal soon.
However, the future is uncertain for other senior players who have entered the final eight months of their contracts at the Emirates Stadium. This is not necessarily a negative thing as Arteta might be willing to let some leave or simply weighing up whether to trigger any one-year extension options.
One way or another, a decision will have to be communicated in the coming months, and below are the players in question.
The Italy international signed a short-term deal with Arsenal upon completing a £12million transfer from Chelsea in the January window and it expires at the end of the season. Having said that, there is a one-year extension option in his contract and it remains to be seen if it gets triggered.
