Arsenal told eye-watering Pedro Neto price tag as Wolves earn surprise boost amid transfer interest
Wolves' star player Pedro Neto has been catching the eye of top Premier League clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal this season. However, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein, a move away from Molineux for the Portuguese international is not guaranteed.
Neto joined Wolves from Lazio in 2019 for around £18m, after the Italian club had made his loan deal from Braga permanent. Since then, the 23-year-old has played over 100 games for Wolves, increasing his value significantly.
Ornstein suggests that any club hoping to sign Neto this summer would need to offer at least £80m. With Wolves currently sitting 11th in the league and still in the running for a European spot, and with three years left on his contract, Neto might decide to stay put for another year.
David Ornstein shared his thoughts on Pedro Neto's future, saying in The Athletic's Q&A: «Neto is having a brilliant season and that naturally makes him one to watch in the next transfer window. First thing to say is there's no guarantee he leaves Wolves. He's under contract until 2027 and the club are on course for a much higher finish than they would have budgeted for, which strengthens their footballing and financial outlook.»
He also mentioned interest from big clubs: «It is no secret that the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United (perhaps Manchester United, too, with Dan Ashworth moving there from Newcastle) are all admirers of the Portugal international, although they may harbour some reservations about his fitness record.»
