Barcelona reportedly identified Liverpool star Mohamed Salah as a potential transfer target before considering alternative options.
Salah has been occasionally linked with a move away from Anfield ever since his breakthrough season with the Reds in 2017/18. Since then, the Egyptian has remained a key member of Jurgen Klopp's squad and has scored 204 goals in 332 appearances to move up to fifth on the club's all-time top scorers list.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are drawing up plans to sign a new wide forward when the transfer window reopens in the summer. It has been stated that Salah is an option that the La Liga giants have considered.

The report has claimed, though, that Barcelona considers it "impossible" to try to take Salah from Liverpool. The reason for this is because of the price tag that it would take to convince the Reds to let their star forward leave the club, even though Barca considers Salah the "best option" for what they are looking for.
As a result, Barcelona have a three-player transfer shortlist as alternatives to Salah. They include Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli, Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma.
Salah is currently contracted to Liverpool until 2025, having signed fresh terms before the start of last season. The 31-year-old has now entered the final 18 months of his deal, which is only likely to increase the speculation around his future.
