Mohamed Salah has posted a mysterious message on social media after a new injury claim was made about the Liverpool forward.
Salah put in an impressive performance in Liverpool's 4-1 victory over Brentford at weekend, scoring his 15th Premier League goal of the season on his return from injury. However, reports have since emerged from his native Egypt claiming that the 32-year-old has re-injured his hamstring and could miss the Liverpool's midweek match against Luton Town.
Any recurrence of the injury would surely make Salah a doubt for the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea. The Blues take on Jurgen Klopp's side at Wembley on Sunday.
Egyptian journalist Ahmed Shoubir claimed Salah had suffered a similar hamstring problem again. If true, it would come as a hammer blow for Liverpool, who — like Chelsea — already have a large injury list including Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones and Darwin Nunez.
Shoubir told Egyptian TV station OnTimeSports: «I have sad news, I learned that Salah suffered an injury at the end of the meeting between Liverpool and Brentford and renewed injury suffered during the camp of the Egyptian national team. Salah unfortunately will not be able to play the next Liverpool Premier League match against Luton Town. This is my information and I hope that the news is not true, but it is largely true.»
On Monday night, Salah took to X — formerly known as Twitter — to share a picture of his celebration against Brentford. The post made no reference to the new injury claim, but Salah is no stranger to posting cryptic messages on social media.
