Liverpool have asked the Football Association of Egypt to exclude Mohamed Salah from their March internationals for fear of aggravating his current hamstring injury further.
Salah has played just 35 minutes for the Premier League leaders since New Year's Day having flown out to Ivory Coast for the Africa Cup of Nations duty before suffering a muscle issue in a 2-2 draw with Ghana in mid-January.
Liverpool ensured their 19-goal top scorer underwent his rehabilitation on their watch at the AXA Training Centre and were prepared to dispatch him back to Africa if Egypt made it to the latter stages.

After the Pharaohs were unable to repeat their 2022 appearance at the final, however, Salah returned for the Reds in the 4-1 win at Brentford a fortnight ago and scored before suffering a recurrence of his muscle complaint in what was a bruising game for a team that lost four players in total to injury on the day.
Salah has missed the last four matches as a result, including last week's Carabao Cup success against Chelsea, but is poised for a potential comeback next week for the visit of Manchester City at Anfield.
But with Liverpool keen to keep their talisman fresh for a vital run-in across three competitions, the Egyptian FA have confirmed they have received a letter from the club to make Salah exempt from their meeting with New Zealand later this month.
An Egyptian FA statement reads: "We have already received a letter from Liverpool to exempt Mohamed Salah from the upcoming camp due to his injury. We sent the name of Mohamed Salah among the professional players that we are requesting
