Getafe striker Borja Mayoral has expressed his shock over recent reports linking him with a transfer to Arsenal.
It was claimed earlier this week theGunners had seen a£22million offer rejected for the Spanish forward, with Getafe said to be seeking a figure in the region of £39m for their marksman.
Mayoral has played a key role in his current employers finding themselves within touching distance of a European place in the La Liga table, having scored 12 goals in 19 matches this term. The 26-year-old has also netted twice in three Copa del Rey games to help secure progression to the Round of 16 stage.
Such performances have naturally led to speculation regarding the future of the Real Madrid academy graduate, who is under contract at Getafe until 2027. Moving to clarify talk over a possible transfer exit, however, Mayoral has admitted to being unaware of any possible developments.
«It’s news that has surprised me too,» he told Mediaset, as cited by Estadio Deportivo. «I haven’t spoken to the club or my agent. I’m very focused on Getafe on a day-to-day basis.»

Shedding further light on the situation, Spanish outlet AS have claimed Getafe have «no intention» of selling their star man as the club «dreams big of fighting to win the Copa del Rey and get a European place».
The report adds the situation will be «another story» come the summer transfer window as the club aims to avoid another window of balancing the books. It is believed the Spanish side would be more willing to accept an offer at this time, which will be in excess of €20m (£17m).
