Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has explained how he was able to stop Liverpool duo Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo in extra time of the FA Cup tie on Sunday.
The Reds were beaten 4-3 by Man United in the quarter-final of the cup at Old Trafford at the weekend. Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah and Harvey Elliott had found the back of the net for Liverpool, but it would not be enough to reach the semi-final.
Liverpool held a 2-1 lead until the final minutes of regular time before Antony scored an equaliser for the home side to set up extra time. Elliott's goal came in the first half of extra time, giving the Reds a 3-2 lead with 15 minutes left to play.
United then responded by scoring two goals in the final minutes through Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo to knock Liverpool out of the competition. The Reds will now have a two-week hiatus during the international break before returning to Premier League action against Brighton on March 31.

Fernandes captained United against Liverpool, and it was during extra time that the Portuguese international was forced to perform a role different to his usual duties. The midfielder was struggling with his fitness as the game drew to a conclusion and ended up playing alongside Harry Maguire in defence.
Fernandes has explained how he was able to stop Nunez and Gakpo in the final minutes of the game against Liverpool, despite finding himself in the unfamiliar position.
“In that moment, it was the moment we had to risk everything and had to play basically man-to-man, which was what the coach asked of us," Fernandes told
