Former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic compared Kobbie Mainoo with Real Madrid midfield maestro Luka Modric after the youngster scored in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Old Trafford.
After Bruno Fernandes had wiped out Luis Diaz's opener, United turned the game on its head with just over 20 minutes remaining via a superb finish from Mainoo. The England international turned just inside the penalty area and bent a stunning effort into the top corner to claim his first-ever Old Trafford goal.
Continuing to shine in what has been a disappointing season for United collectively, the youngster is going from strength-to-strength. He has now started each of the Reds' last 15 Premier League matches.

Mainoo is also in the frame to bag a starting berth for England at this summer's European Championship in Germany and Vidic lauded the teenager following the full-time whistle, admitting he reminds him of Modric. Vidic was particularly impressed with the United man's ability to sense what is around him and be productive with the ball.
"Mainoo has been fantastic, especially his awareness in these areas," Vidic told Premier League Productions. "He reminds me sometimes of Modric.
"He always feels who is behind him. You can see, he took the first touch, straight away moved to the side, then it was a great strike. He's difficult to defend against."
