Former Liverpool captain Steve McMahon believes his old side still have plenty to play for this season and opened up on his love for Ladies Day.

Klopp, who has steered Liverpool to three Champions League finals - winning it in 2019 - looked bewildered at the final whistle and applauded fans as he disappeared down the tunnel. And McMahon believes the German may have paid the price for making too many changes.

“We are not out of it yet, but almost out of it,” he told the ECHO. “I just think they did a job on us; they went man for man all over the pitch.
“Cup games can be like that. I was there, and it was very disappointing. For me, I prefer starting with your strongest team and then changing it."
Asked what the result could mean for the rest of the campaign, the former midfielder replied: “Realistically, now, everyone is saying that we only have the league to play for, but let's see if we can get a remarkable turnaround at Atalanta next week, then the league is there for the taking.”
