Newcastle United have been handed a massive boost after Bruno Guimaraes signed a new five-year contract with the Magpies.
The Brazil international joined Eddie Howe’s side from Lyon in a £40m deal from Lyon in January 2022, and has arguably been their standout signing since being taken over by the PIF the previous October. His eye-catching form for Newcastle, registering 11 goals and eight assists from 67 appearances and helping take them back into the Champions League after a 20-year absence, has inevitably resulted in interest from elsewhere.
Real Madrid have regularly been linked with the 25-year-old, who has previously confirmed he had held talks with the Spanish giants in the summer of 2022. Meanwhile, Liverpool are known admirers of Guimaraes, with the Telegraph reporting last month that both the Reds and Chelsea had seen Newcastle emphatically knock back transfer enquiries for the midfielder in the last two transfer windows as they immediately insisted he was not for sale at any price.

Reports in Spain would go further and even claim that Liverpool had bid for the Brazilian during the final days of this summer’s transfer window, before eventually bringing in Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich.
