Detectives have still not caught anybody for the £1 million raid on Jack Grealish's family home - raising fears those responsible have fled the country.
The gang fled with a hail of luxury watches and jewellery from the £5.6 million Cheshire property in an area called the 'Golden Triangle'.
It has been earmarked in the last three years by professional 'burglary tourist' gangs from Brazil, Chile, Peru and Mexico.
The Grealish burglary on Boxing Day stunned the British footballing world and is likely to have led to a review of security for other top-flight professional players.
Despite detectives spending four weeks on the case, nobody has been arrested - sparking fears the gang have fled the country.
Former Met detective Peter Bleksley said: 'The first few days of any crime like this are vitally important.
'Due to the nature of the crime, significant resources would have been thrown at it.
'But the likelihood is they have fled the country. It has all the hallmarks of a south American burglary gang who have flown in to carry out the raid.
'Jack Grealish is an international star. He has a massive profile and is considered one of the most well-known players in the world.
'He would be a prime target for a gang such as this. Once they have come into the country to carry out this sort of crime, they will not be hanging around.
'They will be off as soon as they can. They have come for what they want and it's a case of getting out as soon as possible. It looks like that is exactly what they have done.
'In that case, the chances of catching them and bringing them to justice is virtually zero.
'It will go down as yet another unsolved case.'
