Burnley have said an internal inquiry has been launched as a matter of fan safety following events during Everton's trip to Turf Moor on Saturday.
Sean Dyche's men made the successful trip over to Lancashire over the weekend, beating the Clarets 2-0 with goals from Amadou Onana and Michael Keane to move seven points clear of the bottom three. However off the field and in the stands there was disruption reported, particularly when the Blues' goals scored during the first half.
Video footage began to circulate and others wrote messages to the newly-promoted club via social media after away supporters were found in the James Hargreaves Stand - a home section adjacent to the away section in the Barnfield Construction Stand.

Children were said to have been visibly upset whilst the failures of stewards to act was also criticised.
This is not just a problem solely down to the actions of travelling Blues fans though as other social media activity since the Clarets return to the top-flight suggests it is a recurring issue at Turf Moor no matter the opponent. Now Burnley have finally chosen to respond after Everton's visit, posting a two-paragraph statement on X, formerly known as Twitter.
It read: "We are aware of the problems that arose as a result of away supporters being in some home sections at Turf Moor for the match against Everton on Saturday.
"We have launched an immediate internal enquiry and want to assure our fans their safety is our top priority and the situation that arose was unacceptable."
