Caoimhin Kelleher is confident he can replace Alisson Becker as Liverpool's goalkeeper while the Brazilian recovers from injury.
Alisson pulled up with a muscle injury in the closing stages of last week's 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad and manager Jurgen Klopp revealed in his Wednesday press conference, ahead of the Europa League win over LASK, that he expects his No.1 to be sidelined for the next couple of games at least.
Kelleher stood in for Alisson on Thursday night as the Reds secured a place in the last 16 of the Europa League with a 4-0 win over the Austrian side and the Irishman will keep goal once more when Fulham are hosted in the Premier League on Sunday.
And with Kelleher expected to also feature away at Sheffield United on December 6 and possibly Crystal Palace three days later, the shot-stopper says he is ready to step up in the absence of a goalkeeper many rate as one of the world's finest.
“Yeah [I can step up] it’s just what I’ve always trained for really," Kelleher said. "I know it’s obviously been a long time [since I've been in the team], but I’m always training for that, to try and be ready and if something does happen to Ali – unfortunately something has – then I’m ready to go in and try to help the team get some more wins.
