Dundela’s Wilgar Park pitch falls short of Premiership regulations
Dundela chairman Mark Snodden has confirmed the Championship leaders will not be applying for a promotion licence to the Premiership for next season because the football authorities have informed them there is no scope for allowances to be made over the size of their Wilgar Park pitch, which does not meet top flight regulations.
On the basis that they have hosted several Premiership sides in Cup competitions in recent years, Dundela asked the Northern Ireland Football League (NIFL) for dispensation but were told under the current IFA Joint Ground Criteria that would not be possible, with Snodden revealing the pitch is ‘four-and-a-half metres short in width’ of what is required.
