Less than 48 hours after Chelsea were beaten by Manchester United in a disappointing display at Old Trafford, it was once again time for Mauricio Pochettino to fulfil his media duties. The Blues head coach spoke to the press ahead of his side's trip back up to the north west, but this time to face Everton.
There has not been too much time for Pochettino and his squad to reflect on what happened on Wednesday evening. However, the Argentine will be desperate for his players to bounce back with Chelsea now absolutely desperate for just their sixth win of the Premier League season at Goodison Park.
Ahead of the game, Pochettino spoke to the media at Cobham in his pre-match press conference. Bobby Vincent has noted down the best of what Pochettino had to say.
We have been told for a few weeks now that Christopher Nkunku is very close to returning to action. The France international, who is yet to make his debut for Chelsea since signing for the club in the summer, has been training at Cobham over the past few weeks with his teammates.
Pochettino, though, is clearly being cautious with Nkunku and does not want him to potentially aggravate the knee injury that has kept him on the sidelines for months. As frustrating as it is right now for Chelsea supporters, it seems the sensible thing to do.
«Still assessing [Nkunku] day by day, see tomorrow,» Pochettino said. «I don't believe that he will be involved but we need to assess day by day. We see also with Malo Gusto but apart from that no.»
