Liverpool have not yet agreed a verbal agreement in principle with Ruben Amorim despite reports suggesting so, it is said. The Reds identified the Portuguese manager as their top choice to replace Jurgen Klopp after Xabi Alonso committed to staying at Bayer Leverkusen but suggestions of a deal being imminent are premature.
Klopp revealed in January that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, citing a lack of energy for his decision. This announcement prompted the club's hierarchy to start exploring potential replacements.
Roberto De Zerbi, Julian Nagelsmann, and Simone Inzaghi were among those linked with the Anfield hot seat, while Alonso was also considered before he confirmed his intention to stay at Bayer Leverkusen. Chelsea themselves have previously been linked with Amorim and the clamour to tie down the 39-year-old comes at time wherebyMauricio Pochettino is under extreme pressure.
Amorim has consistently been high on Liverpool's own shortlist though and on Monday it was widely report that a 'verbal agreement in principle' has been reached with the coach. It was written that the Sporting boss is eager to join Liverpool this summer and had been offered a contract until 2027.
