Chelsea could look to sell Ian Maatsen and Trevoh Chalobah in an effort to fund a move to sign Brentford star Ivan Toney. football.london understands the England international is someone that has interested the Blues for a while now and a move for the Brentford striker could be considered.
Toney recently changed agents as he plots a move away from the Gtech Community Stadium, with Brentford valuing the 27-year-old striker at £100million. Chelsea are in the market for a new striker following their struggles in front of goal with Armando Broja and Nicolas Jackson failing to prove their goalscoring consistency.
Following their £350million spending spree in thesummer, the west Londoners will need to raise further funds through player sales if they want to make a few more signings this month. Maatsen is attracting interest from Borussia Dortmund after he rejected a return to Burnley in the summer.
Meanwhile, Chalobah remained at Stamford Bridge after a move to Bayern Munich fell through in the summer — but the German giants have reignited their interest in the 24-year-old in recent days and could try and sign the defender once again. According to Sky Germany, Bayern have made contact with Chalobah and are negotiating a potential loan deal.
This does not suit Chelsea at present given all of the club's international loan spots are currently taken. A report from the Independent has now revealed that the Blues realistically need to raise at least £160million to sign Toney in January.
Brentford's £100million valuation could put potential suitors off from pursuing a deal to sign the 27-year-old this month, with Toney now in the final 18 months of his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium. Chelsea could look to raise more funds
