Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana is close to joining Premier League side Burnley on loan until the end of the season after being recalled early from German side Union Berlin.
Fofana joined the Blues from Molde last winter before making four appearances in the second half of last season. He moved to Union Berlin in the summer, where he scored two goals and assisted one in 17 games.
In his last appearance for Union, the 21-year-old came off the bench to score in the 2-0 win over Koln before Christmas. Chelsea confirmed his recall on Thursday and he's set to spend the second half of the 2023/24 campaign away from Stamford Bridge.
According to The Athletic, Burnley have agreed a deal in principle for the Ivory Coast striker. La Liga outside Sevilla were said to be working on a deal to sign Fofana, but it's Vincent Kompany's team who look set to land his signature.
Burnley are facing relegation from the Premier League after returning to the top flight last season. The Clarets are currently 19th in the table and are five points off safety.
Fofana's loan will make him the third player to leave the club on loan this window after Alex Matos (Huddersfield) and Ian Maatsen (Borussia Dortmund) sealed temporary moves. Maatsen's move to Germany was confirmed on Friday, with the 21-year-old signing a new contract at west London as part of the move.
