Edwards deal eyed
Chelsea have reportedly broadened their search for a new attacking midfielder. The Blues have been heavily linked with numerous creative players this summer as Mauricio Pochettino hopes to further bolster his squad.
According to Simon Phillips, Chelsea have considered exploring a deal to sign Marcus Edwards from Sporting. The 24-year-old midfielder, who sees his contract at the Estadio Jose Alvalade expire in 2026, featured 33 times for the Portuguese outfit in the Primeira Liga, directly contributing towards 16 goals.
Edwards also led Ruben Amorim's side to the Europa League quarter-final following a handful of superb performances against the likes of Arsenal and Juventus. While his emergence as a Chelsea target may surprise many, Pochettino forecasted the playmaker's rise to superstardom a couple of years ago during their time together at Tottenham.

Fabregas prediction
Cesc Fabregas has claimed that Chelsea are not yet ready to mount a Premier League title charge. In an interview with Sky Sports, he claimed that the Blues are on 'the right track to success' but they still need some time.
The 36-year-old said: «I can see what they are trying to do. A young, dynamic, powerful team. The players they have signed are top quality. It is about putting them together and letting them grow. For example, Enzo Fernandez has had some time to adapt, and Moises Caicedo is a top player.
»He is strong and with quality, having been coached by a top manager like Roberto De Zerbi. Maybe not this year, but from next year they will be ready to compete."
