Injuries have ravaged Pochettino's squad in the early months of the 2023/24 season with the latest blow seeing Reece James suffer what looks to be a fresh hamstring issue. The Chelsea captain was replaced by Levi Colwill inside the first 30 minutes with Robert Sanchez and Marc Cucurella also both going off due to injury in the second half.
Abdoulaye Doucoure and Lewis Dobbin were on target for the Toffees with the loss Pochettino's seventh in league action after just 16 games. The top four spots are now 14 points away from the Blues as it looks set to be another season languishing in mid-table following a mass squad turnover.
