Chelsea player ratings as Gallagher excellent, Jackson wasteful, Palmer quiet in Man City defeat
Chelsea have been knocked out of the FA Cup after losing 1-0 to Manchester City in the semi-final at Wembley Stadium.
Despite a positive first-half display from Chelsea, the two sides went in goalless at the break. Nicolas Jackson had the best chance of the half from a Blues perspective after he rounded Stefan Ortega, but he decided to check back and lay it off rather than shoot on his weaker left foot.
In the second-half, Michael Oliver waved away a massive penalty shout from Chelsea after the ball hit Jack Grealish's arm inside the box. Cole Palmer struck the ball from a free-kick and Grealish's extended arm made contact with the ball but after a brief VAR check, nothing was given.
With less than 10 minutes of normal time to go, Man City made Chelsea pay for their missed opportunities. Bernardo Silva tapped in from close-range after a cross from Kevin De Bruyne.

Petrovic does really well to force Phil Foden wide in what was City's best chance of the first-half. Foden got on the end of a great pass from Kevin De Bruyne and he rounded Petrovic, but the Serbian's lunge at the Englishman forced him wide and meant he could not convert the ball into the goal. A good save on 53 minutes to deny Foden.
Gusto was not at his absolute best this afternoon. There were, though, a couple of nice tackles to lift the crowd. Notably that one on De Bruyne in the first-half.
