Chelsea will reportedly push ahead with their pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window and will pay the €120million (£103.3m) release clause in the Nigerian's contract.
Osimhen has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League for the last year. Arsenal and Chelsea are two names regularly tipped to make a move as both teams look to solve their goal scoring problems.
The striker played a pivotal role in Napoli's Serie A title success last season with 30 goals. He has continued his impressive form this term, though his minutes have been restricted due to injury.
Recently, the 25-year-old signed a new deal in Naples that would keep him in Italy until 2026, with Napoli including a whopping €120million release clause in his contract to set them in good stead for any future deal.
However, despite the focus at Stamford Bridge being on the January window, Chelsea are reportedly 'ready to attack' this summer and make Osimhen their marquee summer arrival at the end of the season.
According to Il Mattino [viaCalcio Napoli 24], the west Londoners will spend big to bring the former Lille and Wolfsburg man to Stamford Bridge for the 2024/25 season. The report adds that the Blues are 'already ready' to make their move and intend to pay the clause inserted in his contract.
That would make Osimhen Chelsea's third most expensive player — behind Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez — and continue Todd Boehly's heavy investment in Mauricio Pochettino's playing squad.
