Emmanuel Petit has urged Chelsea to not sign a new striker this month despite their misfortunes in front of goal. The Blues have been heavily linked with the likes of Victor Osimhen, Karim Benzema and Evan Ferguson recently as Mauricio Pochettino hopes to further bolster his frontline in the January transfer window.
football.london understands that Chelsea wanted to sign the Napoli striker in the summer but the Italian giants were determined to hold onto their talisman – so Nicolas Jackson was signed from Villarreal instead. It's believed that the west Londoners viewed Osimhen as somebody who could have solved the club's problems but, without Champions League qualification, any bid to sign him proved difficult.
Despite having recently signed a contract extension in Naples, football.london understands that Chelsea are still interested in the Nigeria international. It remains to be seen whether the Blues will lodge a bid any time soon, but it seems as if Todd Boehly is leaning towards a cheaper alternative.
