Burnley's on-loan Chelsea striker David Fofana has been ridiculed for an astonishing miss in his side's match against Brentford.
The Ivorian forward was the Clarets hero in their previous game, scoring a stunning 25-yard goal against West Ham. But against Brentford, he fluffed his lines from just three yards out.
After some good work from full-back Lorenz Assignon, Fofana, 21, only had to tap the ball into an empty net. However, instead of simply guiding it in, he attempted a cheeky heel flick which backfired spectacularly.
«Fofana bro,» one shocked fan tweeted. «Miss of the season,» another added. A third wrote: «Might be miss of the season. Can see the ball the whole way, no pressure, nice speed and height to take it, has time», reports the Daily Star.
One particularly cruel fan said: «I'll have to go through Jackson, Darwin, Werner season highlights reel to deem it miss of the season.» Fofana's miss didn't just upset Burnley and Chelsea fans — it also annoyed a lot of Fantasy Premier League players who had picked or captained him.
«I had him, too. Just had a feeling he'd score; and he should have. How typical of all things FPL.» Some fans criticised Fofana, while others used the opportunity to make fun of his parent club. «The Chelsea is strong with this one,» a rival fan joked.
