Chelsea beat Newcastle on penalties to reach the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
Callum Wilson's goal had given Newcastle the lead but Mykhailo Mudryk equalised late on for Chelsea as the game finished 1-1 and went to penalties.
In the shootout Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic was the hero as he kept out Matt Ritchie's effort.
Mail Sport's Adrian Kajumba assesses how both sets of players performed at Stamford Bridge.
CHELSEA (4-2-3-1)
Djordje Petrovic 7.5
Bit of a nervous start of the ball, left exposed for Wilson’s goal but barely troubled after that until the shootout and brilliant save from Ritchie clinched victory.
Axel Disasi 6
Pressed into right back duty and allowed Gordon a little too much space at times which he perhaps could have made more of. Headed over.
Thiago Silva 6.5
Was involved in the calamitous Newcastle opener, making the second error as Wilson ran goalwards. Did produce some important interceptions after.
Benoit Badiashile 5
Shaky display. Made the most costly error of all for Wilson’s goal. Crowd were nervous thereafter when he held onto the ball for too long, with good reason too.
Levi Colwill 6.5
Started the error-strewn move that led to Wilson’s goal with first misplaced pass. Defended well one v one against Almiron though and blocked well to deny Guimaraes.
Moises Caicedo BOOKED 6
Booked inside two minutes for foul on Gordon. Start of a mixed night for midfielder. Part of mix-up with Colwill for Newcastle goal but did not hide in midfield.
Conor Gallagher BOOKED 7
Typically busy display from stand-in captain with contributions all over the pitch. Best was a measured, first half shot which hit the top of the bar.
Cole Palmer 7
Chelsea’s go-to-guy. As ever, willing to take responsibility to try and make things
