Cole Palmer is once again talk of the Premier League thanks to his latest stunning performance.
The young Englishman scored four goals against Everton as Chelsea battered the Toffees 6-0 last night (Monday, April 15). Since his switch from Manchester City last summer, Palmer has registered 20 goals and nine assists in what's turned out to be an incredible debut season for the rising England star.
Palmer is also the first Chelsea player in Premier League history to score in seven consecutive PL home games with the young midfielder scoring against Sheffield Utd, Fulham, Wolves, Newcastle, Burnley, Man Utd and now Everton. In a development that even the smartest pundits most likely never saw coming, Palmer is now level with Erling Haaland in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.
So, just how is the Golden Boot race shaping up? Palmer is currently locked in joint first place with the Manchester City hotshot while Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins is next in the list on 19. Newcastle's Alexander Isak, Liverpool's Mo Salah and Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke are then tucked in behind the leading trio with 17 goals each.
Since moving to Chelsea for £40 million in September 2023, Palmer has made 27 appearances for the Blues, been involved in 29 goals through scoring or assisting and has even earned an England call-up against Malta and North Macedonia in Euro 2024 qualifying. His form also had many people calling for him to make Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 squad.
