On the eve of his 67th birthday, the singer from Utah, America, took to the stage in Liverpool. The last time I was at the M&S Bank Arena was to see Alan Partridge. Donny Osmond is everything Alan wishes he was. What a showman.
As if he has not aged a day with his TV tanned skin, full head of jet-black hair and that dazzling showbiz smile, I felt like I had been swept back to a time when Saturday night TV was an event. Just before the man himself heads on stage I watch the group of ladies in front of me brutally crop me out of their selfie and the make up of the audience dawns on me.

These women are lifelong fans. Some are wearing scarves with his name on, some have made signs like the teenagers of the 60s and 70s and some have been to Vegas to see him twice (well that's what one woman shouted during the show).
